War Machine is a Marvel Comics superhero character who first appeared in Iron Man #282 in 1992. His real name is James “Rhodey” Rhodes, and he is a close friend and ally of Tony Stark (Iron Man). Rhodey is a former Marine who becomes a skilled pilot and uses his military training and experience to operate his powerful War Machine armor. The armor is similar to Iron Man’s, but it is heavily weaponized and has additional defensive capabilities. War Machine has been a member of the Avengers and has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. He is a tough and fearless warrior who always fights for justice and the greater good.
