The elephant is the largest land animal on earth and is known for its incredible intelligence, social behavior, and unique physical characteristics, such as its long trunk and ivory tusks. There are two species of elephants: the African elephant and the Asian elephant. Elephants are highly social animals and live in family herds led by a matriarch. They communicate with each other through a variety of vocalizations, body language, and touch. Unfortunately, elephants are threatened by habitat loss, poaching for their ivory tusks, and conflicts with humans.
