The lion, also known as the “King of the Jungle,” is a large carnivorous mammal found in Africa and some parts of Asia. It is part of the Panthera genus and is scientifically referred to as Panthera Leo. Lions are characterized by their golden-brown fur, muscular build, and majestic mane (in males). They are social animals and live in groups called prides, typically consisting of a dominant male, several females, and their offspring. Lions are apex predators and hunt mainly at night. However, they also scavenge for food and will prey on a variety of animals, including zebras, wildebeests, and antelopes. Despite being fierce hunters, lions are an endangered species, with their population declining due to habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.
