Mufasa is a fictional character in Disney’s animated film, The Lion King. He is the king of the Pride Lands and father to Simba, the main protagonist of the movie. Mufasa is a wise and just ruler, respected and beloved by all the animals in the Pride Lands. He teaches Simba about the “Circle of Life,” the delicate balance that exists between all living things, and the importance of being a responsible and caring leader. Despite his noble nature, Mufasa is tragically killed by his brother Scar, who envies his position as king and plots to take over the Pride Lands. Mufasa’s death deeply affects Simba and forms the central conflict of the movie.
